2024 Recent Graduate Alumni Award Winner - Rebekah Hartfield, DVM

Dr. Hartfield graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2012. She then attended Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2016. After completing her studies, she worked as an associate veterinarian at a mixed animal clinic in Cushing, Oklahoma.

2024 Distinguished Alumni - William and Angie DuBois, DVM

Drs. Bill and Angie DuBois met during veterinary school at Oklahoma State. After getting married, they practiced in the United States for over 15 years. Dr. Angie worked in a small animal emergency practice, and Dr. Bill worked in a livestock production practice. In 2015, they joined Christian Veterinary Mission as long-term fieldworkers and moved to SE Asia.

2024 Distinguished Alumni - LTC Daniel Holland, DVM

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Daniel E. Holland was born on April 5, 1963 as the youngest of ten children in a military family. His father retired in Marlow, Oklahoma, where Daniel graduated from high school in 1981. He attended Oklahoma State University and was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. Following graduation in 1988 from the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine he entered active duty as an Army Veterinary Corps Officer. Daniel described his commissioning in the Army as a dream come true. “Where else could a person swim with dolphins, jump out of airplanes, and help people in faraway countries take better care of their animals?” he asked.

2024 Distinguished Alumni - James Meinkoth, DVM, MS, PhD

Dr. Jim Meinkoth, a New Jersey native, found his way to Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, joining the class of 1985. Dr. Meinkoth then went on to complete a clinical pathology residency. For over three decades, Dr. Meinkoth has been a dedicated faculty member at OSU, specializing in diagnostic cytology. His passion for peering through a microscope has become his livelihood, a dream come true for this lifelong learner. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Meinkoth cherishes his personal life. He’s been happily married to Tina, also an OSU CVM alumna, for over 40 years. Together, they have an amazing son, Phillip, an attorney in Denver. When not immersed in his work or family, Dr. Meinkoth can often be found on the road, attending Bruce Springsteen concerts – a testament to his enduring passion for music.

During the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association conference in January, Dr. Deepan Kishore was named the Oklahoma Veterinarian of the Year. Dr. Kishore is the first Indian-Origin veterinarian to win this award.

2023 Distinguished Alumni - Jerry Ritchey, DVM

October 13, 2023

Dr. Jerry Ritchey was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. At an early age, he made a commitment to become a veterinarian because of the excitement for the profession exhibited from one of his first mentors, Dr. John T. Gage (OSU CVM 1971). Dr. Ritchey completed a BS in Microbiology from Oklahoma State in 1987 and entered the DVM curriculum graduating in 1991.

2023 Distinguished Alumni - Lee Denney, DVM

Following graduation from OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, Dr. Lee Denney returned to her hometown and established a mixed animal practice. She served the communities of Cushing and Drumright and surrounding areas for over thirty years as a veterinarian and community leader. During that time, she was also the OSU CVM recruitment coordinator and taught anatomy and physiology at Central Technology Center. She was elected as City Commission Major and Vice-Mayor from 1994 to 2003.

Dr. Brewer’s career spans service as Oklahoma State University faculty, private practitioner, State Veterinarian of Oklahoma, and USDA APHIS Veterinary Services Area Veterinarian in Charge. Her personal and professional contributions continue to make her an advocate and role model for future veterinarians.
