Student Organizations
Veterinary students have the opportunity to enhance their academic experience and build lasting connections through a variety of student organizations and clubs. From clinical clubs to special interest groups, students can get involved in leadership roles, community outreach and hands-on activities that complement their studies. Joining a club is a great way to foster personal growth, network with peers and professionals, and contribute to the veterinary community.

Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA)
SAVMA is a national organization established in 1969 to promote networking and collaboration between veterinary students, veterinarians, and their parent organization, the American Veterinary Medical Association. SAVMA promotes students taking an active role in leadership and gives them the opportunity to impact the future of the veterinarian profession.

Alpha Psi Veterinary Fraternity
Alpha Psi is a fraternity dedicated to encouraging interaction, camaraderie and professional development between students, professors, and faculty. They host many fun-filled social and community events, blood drives, movie/game nights, hog roasts, and much more.

American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP)
The AAEP focuses on promoting and improving the welfare and health of horses, enhance members’ professional development and networking opportunities, spread interest in equine medicine and surgery, and provide resources and leadership to benefit the Equine community.

American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP)
The American Association of Feline Practitioners addresses the health and well-being of cats through high standards of practice, continuing education, and evidence-based medicine. The AAFP works to improve the standards of feline health and provides its members with progressive research and valuable resources.

American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists (AAVP)
The AAVP student chapter specializes in an integral part of Veterinary Medicine: Parasitology. Members are educated on related topics such as diagnostics, current therapies, practice management, case workup skills, and various other topics in parasitology. They host wet labs, field trips, and other activities.

American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP)
The ACVP student chapter hosts discussion meetings and events covering subjects relating to anatomical and clinical pathology. Their main objective is to provide students with the chance to gain valuable professional knowledge in the field of pathology.

American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA)
The AHVMA aims to promote interest and understanding of holistic, nutritional, and other integrative medicine procedures to veterinary students through supplemental lectures, hands-on wet labs, speaking engagements, and discussion meetings. They also support an acupuncture journal club.

Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV)
The student chapter of the ASV promotes improvements for the health and well-being of animals in shelters and teaches students about the importance of shelter medicine. They also host speakers from behavioral specialists and animal societies such as the ASPCA and Oklahoma Humane Society.

Christian Veterinary Fellowship (CVF)
The CVF offers students the opportunity to meet weekly for fellowship and non-denominational bible study. They also support Christian Veterinary Missions and internships abroad. The CVF holds many social functions and invites guest speakers to interact with their members.

Internal Medicine and Emergency Critical Care Services (IMECCS)
The IMECCS aims to promote student participation in specialties of cardiology, neurology, oncology, large animal internal medicine, small animal internal medicine, and emergency and critical care via hands-on experiences in wet labs and advanced training/internships opportunities.

Production Animal Medicine Society (PAMS)
PAMS is an organization created to inform students of food animal medicine, production, and surgery. They provide supplemental lectures, discussions of current events, food animal rounds, and engaging wet labs to provide knowledge to students interested in production animal medicine.

Small Animal General Practitioners (SAGP)
Students interested in joining a canine and/or feline practice post-graduation can join the SAGP to keep up to date on important issues in today’s small animal hospitals. The SAGP hosts current canine and feline practitioners and the CVM faculty to discuss cases and practices frequently observed in small animal clinical settings. Their wet labs focus on dentistry and Fear Free handling techniques.

Society for Theriogenology (SFT)
The SFT club provides opportunities for students interested in Theriogenology to broaden their education regarding the study of obstetrics and reproductive medicine. They host meetings with CVM clinicians and Theriogenology experts, and wet labs to broaden their members’ clinical skillsets.

Society for Veterinary Surgery and Anesthesiology (SVSA)
The SVSA promotes the enhancement of technical skills necessary for surgery and anesthesiology involving all veterinary species. They host meetings to discuss topics relating to surgery and anesthesia, as well as wet labs for members to hone their surgical skills and knowledge throughout the year.

Veterinary Business Managment Association (VBMA)
The VBMA is a student-driven organization dedicated to advancing the veterinary profession through spreading business knowledge, creating networking opportunities, and empowering students to achieve professional and personal goals. Members can discuss business related topics such as resume building, financial management, business ownership, and career development.

Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (VDI)
The VDI club aims to provide learning opportunities for students to gain an appreciation and understanding of the importance of imaging in the veterinary profession. Guest speakers discuss various related topics such as how to utilize CT or Ultrasound, and the club offers hands on experience with imaging equipment and other important diagnostic tools frequently used by veterinarians.

Veterinarians as One Inclusive Community for Empowerment (VOICE)
VOICE seeks to increase awareness, respect, and sensitivity to individual and communal diversity in Veterinary Medicine and campus environments. Their mission involves emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural awareness in Veterinary Medicine. VOICE also provides leadership and mentorship to children, especially from underrepresented backgrounds, who are interested in careers as veterinarians.

Zoo, Exotics and Wildlife Veterinarians (ZEW)
ZEW is the student chapter of the American Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians (SCAAZWV), established to promote interest and knowledge of exotic animals and wildlife. They host discussions regarding caring for wildlife, exotic animals and pets, marine care, and becoming a zoo veterinarian, as well as organize wet labs, field trips, and guest speakers.
