Students for One Health, One Medicine Club

Mission

The Students for One Health, One Medicine club at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine will promote the evidence-based science and medicine of the One Health global movement. Our community will be an accessible, inclusive and welcoming space for students at OSU. Club members will be encouraged to explore opportunities beyond the clinical world and learn how their specific goals fit in the One Health movement. Experiences will be strengthened by establishing connections between specialties and other clubs at OSU, indicative of the connections of animal, environmental and human health. The term “One Medicine” is a vital part of the SOHOM club, as it displays how veterinarians and other health professionals are central to One Health. Lastly, students will have the valuable opportunity to further this blossoming movement in Stillwater, the state of Oklahoma and the global community by participating in unique and thoughtful events.

Vision

The vision of the SOHOM Club is to invite and grow appreciation for One Health in the OSU community. We aim to broaden the educational and extracurricular experiences of students in higher education through promotion of science and medicine from a One Health perspective. Our club events will be an excellent source of unfamiliar yet complementary resources to help support a well-rounded experience. By encouraging students to be involved in events and activities that showcase the interrelationships of animal, environmental and human health, the SOHOM club will have a vast and lasting impact on a student's time at OSU.
