Wednesday, January 28, 2026
Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate students have earned
national recognition from the Radiation Research Society, receiving prestigious training
awards and being selected to present their research at the 2026 Radiation Research
Society Winter Workshop.
The workshop, Comparative Radiation Research: The Role of Companion Animal Medicine in the Radiation
Sciences, will be held Feb. 26–27, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.
Madhi Oli Ramamurthy received the Scholar in Training (RRS-SIT) Award and will present her research, “Radiation-induced delayed neurocognitive dysfunction: Evidence from mouse genomics.”
The following OSU CVM researchers were selected to present their work at the workshop:
-
Dr. Loganayaki Periyasamy — Tumor-targeted radionuclide delivery integrated with differentiation therapy as a curative strategy for high-risk neuroblastoma.
-
Afsana Parveen Jahir Hussain — Exosome-mediated propagation of radiation-associated tumor responses in hematogenous metastasis.
-
Sreenidhi Mohanvelu — Cell-specific preclinical transgenic model unveils the function of the RD3–PML axis in radioadaptation in neuroblastoma.
-
Poorvi Subramanian — RD3 governs radiation-induced host immune dynamics and tumor immune status: Evidence from a pNET mouse model.
-
Sabir Salim — A new composite animal model to study radiotherapy benefit in bladder cancer.
In addition, Dr. Natarajan Aravindan will deliver a session presentation titled “Ideal animal models for studying radiation bystander and abscopal effects that define quality of life in pediatric cancer survivors” during the session The Intersection of Radiation and the Immune System. Aravindan also received a travel grant from the Radiation Research Society to attend the meeting.
