The Foundation for the Horse selected Eden Manuel, Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine third-year veterinary student, as one of three recipients of a $10,000 Anne and Richard Stirlen Scholarship. According to The Foundation for the Horse, the Stirlens organized this scholarship to assist emerging equine veterinarians with educational debt in honor of their equine veterinarians and friends.
“Representing OSU on a national level is an extreme honor,” Manuel said. “I am thankful for all the faculty and mentors that have contributed to my education and journey through veterinary school. The Foundation for the Horse and all of their generous supporters make it possible for students, such as myself, to stay focused on academics despite the large financial undertaking. I'm looking forward to my role in the equine industry through the remainder of school and in what comes after."
Manuel is pursuing a career in theriogenology, with a focus on reproductive medicine. She also currently serves as president of the OSU CVM American Association of Equine Practitioners student chapter. Manuel was formally awarded the scholarship at the AAEP 71st Annual Convention in Denver on Dec. 7, 2025.
“Eden’s personal and extracurricular background have made her an exceptional horsewoman,” said Dr. Megan Williams, associate professor in equine surgery at the OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. “She has gone and continues to go above and beyond to gain experience with equine practitioners to hone her skills. I am confident that she will be successful in whatever avenue of equine veterinary medicine she chooses to pursue. I look forward to calling her a colleague and to seeing all that she will accomplish.”
