Peer Mentor Program

Peer mentors are fellow students who are willing and trained to listen, provide support and give out resource information to other veterinary students in need of help or simply needing someone to talk to. Peer mentors are identified below, and by the button they display on their backpack/bag. Peer mentors are respectful of privacy and maintain confidentiality. The Peer Mentor Program is under the SAVMA Wellness Committee umbrella.

Adviser Program

The faculty adviser program is designed to match every student with a faculty member who has specifically requested to be an advisor. Advisers can help guide students in their professional development and academic success. They can help students develop study and life-balance strategies. Advisers are an excellent resource for counseling on future career pathways. They can be a resource for well-being in the veterinary profession and refer students to the College of Veterinary Medicine and campus resources.

A faculty adviser can be changed at any time by contacting Michelle Kuehn  at 405-744-3251 or michelle.kuehn@okstate.edu. Biographies of faculty advisers can be found in the Student Services section of the CVM Intranet under Basic Sciences faculty (Years 1-2 students) and Clinical Sciences faculty (Years 3-4 students).
