Gaylord Center for Excellence in Equine Health

Thanks to a $1 million lead gift from the E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Foundation, the Gaylord Center for Excellence in Equine Health is now open in a designated area at the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine
Located in the large animal clinic of the center's Veterinary Medical Hospital, highlights include:
Gaylord Isolation Unit
- Ventilation air control in bio-secure spaces to care for critically ill horses with infectious respiratory diseases
- Hoist system in the isolation unit for sling support of critically ill horses with infectious diseases and concurrent neurologic or musculoskeletal conditions
- Improved large animal isolation housing area
- Upgraded large animal isolation ventilation system
Gaylord Neonatal Care Wing
- Enlarged hospital stalls (12 x 24 ft) to accommodate larger horses (e.g. Warmbloods and Draft horses)
- Three large stalls that will accommodate housing a mare and her foal
- Gates separating the stalls have Dutch doors to allow critical care of the foal while providing the mare access via the top half of the gate
Gaylord Equine Performance Suite
- Equine sports medicine outpatient diagnostic and treatment area
- A covered overhead door provides a separate entrance to the diagnostic area
- Laboratory space for regenerative medicine techniques
- Large overhead monitors allow visual observation of ultrasound exams in real time
