Foreign Veterinary Graduates Clinical Year Program

The Clinical Program is offered to foreign DVM graduates to allow them to enhance their technical and clinical skills and to gain additional hands-on clinical experience under the supervision and direction of licensed DVM faculty.

  • Must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or the equivalent degree, have successfully completed all of the ECFVG requirements for Steps 1, 2 and 3, and be fluent in English (conversation and medical English).
  • Applicants must meetECFVG qualifications and requirements for steps 1, 2 and 3 before submitting the application. The applicant must provide copies (no original documents) of official documentation (accompanied by English translation when in language other than English) of the following:
      • A notarized copy of their transcript and a notarized copy of their veterinary diploma from the university granting the veterinary degree.
      • A letter from the American Veterinary Medical Association ECFVG Program verifying enrollment and completion of steps 1, 2 and 3.
      • Three letters of recommendation from veterinarians familiar with your veterinary knowledge and skills. Do not include your recommendation letters with your application. Recommendation letters should be mailed directly to OSU.
      • Proof of medical insurance coverage (must have).
  • A personal interview by the selection committee may be required. The committee usually conducts a telephone interview.
  • Do not schedule your CPE exam until you finish your program, or at least within the last three weeks of completion.
  • Leave of absences will only be approved for emergency situations as deemed appropriate by the program administrator.


To apply, you will need to complete an application packet and submit along with all necessary paperwork and a $75 non-refundable application fee in U.S. currency. All items requested must be received before your application will be considered.
