A small delegation from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Association of American Veterinary Medical College’s Advocacy Day.
Led by dean of the veterinary college Dr. Carlos Risco, the group met with several leaders to advocate on behalf of the AAVMC for support of the following legislative appropriations and bills:
- Section 1433 – $10 million in appropriations for Animal Health and Disease Research
- 1903 – Advancing Emergency Preparedness Through One Health Act of 2019
- 2458 – The America Grows Act of 2019
In addition to Rep. Lucas, the CVM group met with aides of several legislators including Sen. James Inhofe, Sen. James Lankford, Rep. Tom Cole and Rep. Kendra Horn.
