We are shaping the the future of rural veterinary medicine by training practice-ready professionals who can make an immediate impact on the field and the communities they serve. Our curriculum is designed to address the unique challenges of rural communities, equipping students with the knowledge and experience needed for success.

The CE programs at OSU offer traditional quality learning opportunities with flexible options. We offer both face-to-face conferences and seminars and an online platform to provide greater access for all individuals. In 2023 there were 20,000 CE hours delivered!

Community Outreach

We are proud to support our community through programs like shelter medicine and Operation Catnip. Our shelter surgery service allows veterinary students to perform spay and neuter procedures for shelter animals under expert supervision—helping reduce pet overpopulation while gaining valuable hands-on experience. We also offer safe, comfortable boarding and long-term care options for pets in need of extended stays.

Skeletal muscle research focuses on improving health span

At the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Joshua Butcher is studying skeletal muscle as a key regulator of health across species. An integrative physiologist, Butcher’s research examines how skeletal muscle function — or dysfunction — contributes to disease and aging in animals and humans.

Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate students have earned national recognition from the Radiation Research Society (RRS), receiving prestigious training awards and being selected to present their research at the 2026 Radiation Research Society Winter Workshop.
